Senior Compliance Monitoring Officer
Up to £60,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 5)
Manchester city centre - hybrid working between home and the office

We’re looking for a senior compliance monitoring officer to join our Funeralcare (CFPL) compliance monitoring team. As the largest Funeralcare provider in the UK and a new industry to come within Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulation in 2022, you’ll join us on our regulation journey, playing a key role in making sure we’re adhering to the appropriate FCA regulatory requirements.

In this role, you’ll design and deliver independent risk-based monitoring reviews focussed on regulatory compliance risk, conduct risk and financial crime risk in line with our annual compliance monitoring plan and methodology. You’ll evaluate both Co-op Funeralcare and our client’s exposure to these risks, assessing how the business consistently delivers fair outcomes for clients, and meets regulatory requirements through providing second line of defence (2LOD) assurance. This is an exciting opportunity to join us on our compliance journey and work as part of our market leading risk and compliance team.

What you’ll do:

  • contribute to the creation of an effective risk-based monitoring plan
  • deliver assurance reviews ensuring fair customer outcomes/regulatory compliance
  • work collaboratively, providing clarity and engagement throughout the review
  • maintain accurate detailed records of work undertaken
  • clearly articulate review conclusions, with clear recommendations to mitigate risks
  • assess action closure evidence for remedial actions
  • contribute to status reports on plan and action completion progress

This role would suit people who have:

  • substantial experience within a senior monitoring officer role within an FCA regulated entity
  • proven experience of independently designing and delivering assurance reviews
  • extensive knowledge and experience of the FCA Handbook relevant to CFPL
  • strong organisational capability and ability to proactively drive the end-to-end review with sound judgement
  • an analytical understanding and lateral thinking to find out what the risks are and being curious to delve deeper
  • strong relationship building and influencing skills at all levels of the organisation
  • previous experience of creating accurate, evidence-based compliance monitoring reports with exceptional attention to detail including clarity of thought
